Scooters are such an integral part of many Taiwanese lives that it almost feels like they are an extension of the physical self. Scooters have been and continues to be the most common form of transportation in Taiwan. While Taiwan has an excellent public transportation system and more people are acquiring cars, nothing can beat the convenience of a scooter. It is to the point where the scooters have their own designated lanes and those lanes mobilize far more people than cars or buses everyday.

Now, it has to be said that folks here might utilize their scooters a little too much, such as walking their dog, grocery shopping inside the traditional markets, and transporting massive things that probably should not go on a scooter.

It is not unusual for an entire family to be piled onto a scooter (though the rule is apparently two riders max). Here is where I tried to capture some of these amazing feats.
